Where To Find Used Snowboards

Used snowboards are such a crazy value it's almost unreal...most folks unfortunately don't realize the insane amount of value that can be found in snowboarding... ok so that being said how do you find used snowboards and what should you look for when looking for a used snowboard?

Right off the bat the one place I like to go to for great deals on used snowboards is eBay. eBay has a ton of people looking to unload stuff that they're no longer using at a fraction of what they paid for it. Ok so the type of snowboard you're looking for is one that has been sued minimally... You will run into auctions at eBay all the time from folks that bought a used snowboard and then discovered that they never really had time for the sport!

So they have this brand spanking practically new used snowboard and they want to get rid of it and that's where you come into play. Ideally that's the type of snowboard you're looking for - a snowboard from somebody who only used it once or twice and is now just looking to unload it.

What To Look For In Used Snowboards

If you're shopping for a used snowboard on eBay then here are a few questions you should be asking to make sure you don't get ripped off:

  • How many times was the snowboard used?
  • On average how often was the snowboard waxed?
  • Are there any gouges, cracks or deep cuts on the snowboard?

Again what you're looking for in a used snowboard is one that hasn't been used that often or at least one that has been properly maintained. When shopping on eBay for a used snowboard it's also a good idea to only buy from sellers that have a really high reputation feedback and also only buy from sellers that have a lot of pictures of the used snowboard.

Since you can't see the used snowboard you'll want to see as many close-up images of it as possible. without a doubt, used snowboards offer a tremendous value for beginners to snowboarding. You can get all the performance of a name brand snowboard at a fraction of the price and you don't have to mess around with any cheap snowboards in the process.

Absolutely if you're new to snowboarding then the best way to get started is with a quality used snowboard. Don't make the mistake of spending a ton on a new snowboard only to find out a short while later that you want something different. Buy a quality used snowboard to start with and discover what your snowboarding style is and then spend the real money when you have a better idea of which style of snowboarding you prefer as well as have more of a commitment to the sport.

How To Buy A Used Snowboard

A used snowboard is a good means to save dough. Buying a used snowboard requires patience since there are so many different components to checking out a  board and making a bad decision could cost you a lot of cash.

The snowboard must be wider then your feet with snowboots and you should still have a couple of inces to spare. This is critical because you definitely don't want your toes or heels hanging off the snowboard when you're snowboarding down the slopes! The next choice you have to make it on the length of the board. .

If you want to go faster than a longer snowboard would be best but if you want easy maneuverability and you want to perform tricks than a shorter snowboard maybe for you. So basically you have to decide how you will want to ride before buying a used board.All-slopes boards are a great choice for beginnning snowboarders because they are multi-faceted and combine aspects of both long and short boards.

Next you want to look for any visible imperfections especially on top of the snowboard. Avoid any snowboards that show any sizable dents but be aware that some delamination of the top sheet is normal wear for all used snowboards. Avoid these at all cost and look for a pre-owned board that at worst has some small delamination on the top.

Removing the bindings from a pre-owned snowboard and checking out underneath is something a lot of novices do not think to do. Also inspect for damage underneath the stickers and stomp pads. Another thing to check for here is the threading holes for the bindings and basically you just want to make sure they still work. A snowboard is basically useless if you can't attach the bindings to it.

Another good notion is to inspect the metal edges around the snowboard. Deep gouges along the edge are usually hard to fix so stay away from those and opt for something with only small wear and tear.

When you finally get to the bottom of your board make sure to look out for any cracks or major cuts because these are a pain to repair. In the ideal world you'll find a used snowboard with only some minor scratches or scrapes but nothing major. These are just cosmetic and will not affect your snowboards performance as deep cuts and cracks will.

A pre-owned snowboard can really provide some tremendous value if you know what you are looking for, are patient and do your research. Follow the tips in this article and you will be the proud owner of a name brand used snowboard in no time.
